Position Overview

Lakeland Landscaping is seeking a talented and experienced Landscape Designer to collaborate on a freelance or part-time basis for select design projects. This is a flexible, project-based role ideal for a creative and self-motivated professional with a passion for landscape architecture and a strong grasp of conceptual planning.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing visually compelling and functional conceptual designs for residential and/or commercial landscapes using CAD-based software or other industry-standard landscape design programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Lakeland team to develop initial design concepts based on client needs, site conditions, and budget.
  • Prepare landscape design plans, conceptual renderings, and layout drawings using digital design tools (AutoCAD, Dynascape, SketchUp, Vectorworks, or other preferred programs).
  • Incorporate plantings, hardscaping elements, grading, and lighting into holistic, well-balanced design plans.
  • Revise and adapt plans based on feedback from clients and the Lakeland Landscaping team.
  • Ensure designs align with local zoning, environmental, and code requirements where applicable.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and team members during all phases of the design process.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in landscape design, architecture, or a related field (freelance or in-house).
  • Proficiency in one or more landscape design programs (e.g., AutoCAD, Dynascape, SketchUp, Vectorworks, or other relevant software).
  • Strong graphic, spatial, and conceptual design skills.
  • Solid knowledge of horticulture, hardscape materials, and landscape construction.
  • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Degree or certification in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or related field is preferred but not required.

Benefits of Working with Lakeland Landscaping

  • Flexible project-based schedule — ideal for freelancers or those seeking part-time creative work.
  • Collaborate with a reputable and experienced landscape team with decades of regional success.
  • Opportunity to work on diverse, high-end residential and commercial projects.
  • Supportive and creative work environment.
